- ➤ On Wednesday at 7 a.m., Poughkeepsie police — supported by N.Y. State Police, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force — executed a search warrant at a Smith Street commercial property using a gas-powered saw to access the rear building while investigating possible remains from a past crime linked to On the Spot Taxi. - ➤ Joseph Rico, 50, of Poughkeepsie pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery at a Burger King on Windsor Highway in New Windsor on March 27 — he pistol-whipped an employee and stole her phone before fleeing — and he will face a recommended 15-year prison term when sentenced on October 14. - ➤ Joseph Rico, a 50-year-old from Poughkeepsie, pleaded guilty in Orange County Court to first degree robbery after he stole a phone at gunpoint from an employee at a New Windsor fast food restaurant on March 27 and used a pistol to force the employee to the ground—he will be sentenced on Oct. 14. - ➤ Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino said that Deputy County Executive Rachel Kashimer was moved to serve as deputy commissioner for Human Resources due to county needs and professional interests. She added that Kashimer was accused of using her county email to send over 100 messages soliciting donations for the annual Dutchess County Leadership Prayer Breakfast—an event known for its non-partisan lineup. - ➤ Today, EPA tests found that many New York water systems have PFAS levels above federal limits—over 3.5 million residents may be at risk for health issues.
