CRIME NEWS

  • Poughkeepsie police arrested 28-year-old Takeisha Smith and 31-year-old Donques Derello-Johnson near 17 Rose St. on Aug. 14 when officers observed suspicious behavior and found felony-weight crack cocaine—Smith was released on recognizance while Derello-Johnson was taken to county jail.  Daily Voice

  • In July, Hudson Valley counties reported unemployment rates below the state's 4.6% level with Putnam at 3.1% and Delaware at 4.3%, and all counties showed lower rates than in July last year.  Mid Hudson News

  • On Tuesday, Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and the Veterans Affairs Office honored former Wappingers Falls resident Air Force Sergeant Michele AnnMarie Swarner Kinsell for her groundbreaking military service at an Honor—A—Veteran ceremony. Her family received several tributes—such as a flag flown for 30 days, a proclamation, a coin, a state medal, and a handmade quilt—to preserve her legacy.  Mid Hudson News
  • Dutchess County Deputy Exec and Chief of Staff Rachel Kashimer left her positions amid accusations of misusing her county email to send over 100 messages about the annual Leadership Prayer Breakfast — she is set to assume the role of Deputy Commissioner for Human Resources under Commissioner Steve Rector.  Mid Hudson News
  • Ulster County lawmakers approved a $194,000 contract for the Ulster County Community Action Committee to install heat pumps for income—qualified households despite warnings that the nonprofit failed to file required tax and reporting documents.
