  • WPDH has launched a contest today featuring a tiny rockin’ gnome band touring the Hudson Valley, and locals who correctly guess that day’s gnome location can win a $500 prize (with $250 for Adams Fairacre Farms and a $250 Visa gift card).  WPDH

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two educators from Hyde Park Central School District are honored today by the Mid-Hudson School Study Council for their leadership and service. Michael Ruella and Joanna Murphy will be celebrated at the upcoming awards ceremony — their achievements include innovative programs and enhanced student support.  Mid Hudson News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • New York State will ban outdoor apparel with added PFAS starting Jan. 1, 2028 to protect health and the environment. Parents shopping for winter gear should check labels, as companies like Gor-Tex are already offering PFAS-free options (designed with a reduced carbon footprint).  WRRV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sean Brix has been named chair of the Ulster County Workforce Development Board (a longtime Kingston resident and HR Manager at Viking Industries). He will work with board members, employers, and educators to support local workforce initiatives.  Mid Hudson News

HEALTH NEWS

  • HydroJug recalled over 17,000 14‑ounce children's tumblers after loose rivets posed choking hazards, officials said on Dec.4. The recall covers five designs sold from May through June (no injuries reported) and urges parents to stop using them and request a free replacement lid.  Daily Voice

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Vassar College will redevelop 2.24 acres near its campus by demolishing the historic Juliet building on Raymond Ave, relocating current businesses in the next two years and building two mixed-use three-story structures with 150 apartments and 25,000 sqft of retail and restaurant space (vote needed from the 50% stakeholder).  Hudson Valley Post

SPORTS NEWS

  • Marist men’s basketball rallied late to beat Manhattan 80-68 at home on Sunday, keeping the team unbeaten in MAAC play. Elijah Lewis led with 22 points, and coach John Dunne stressed reins on rebounding as the team looks ahead.  Poughkeepsie Journal
  • Army football will play in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl at Fenway Park on Dec. 27 against the UConn Huskies. Coach Jeff Monken said the game renews a regional rivalry and offers his team a chance to showcase their season.  Poughkeepsie Journal
