- ➤ Spirit Christmas opened its Poughkeepsie store at The Shoppes at South Road in November as part of a plan to expand to 30 locations across the Northeast—customers can find holiday decor and take pictures with Santa from Nov. 21-Dec. 24. Poughkeepsie Journal

- ➤ At the Putnam Early Learning Center in Patterson—located in the Hudson Valley InterArts building on Jon Barrett Road and serving two dozen pre-kindergarten and special needs children since it opened in September—students and staff celebrated an early Thanksgiving by unfurling a hand drawn banner that read 'We are Thankful for Your Support.' - ➤ Spackenkill High School in Poughkeepsie was named an Exemplary High Performing School, making it one of 19 in New York to earn the honor and the only one in Dutchess County—mirroring the former National Blue Ribbon Award. - ➤ On Oct. 31, Dutchess County leaders announced $1.5 million to support local food pantries and help residents with heating and cooling needs during the SNAP freeze—emergency food events served 11,000 households.
