CULTURE NEWS

  • More than 3,000 people attended a comedy show with Jim Gaffigan at the MJN Convention Center in downtown Poughkeepsie Thursday evening—many dined at local restaurants before and after the performance. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Robin Mack was named CEO of Think Dutchess Alliance for Business on November 1 and now leads the Dutchess County Local Development Corporation and the Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency (DCIDA) to boost local economic growth. A longtime Poughkeepsie resident with experience from Mount Vernon and Mastercard, she focuses on accountability, compliance, and transparency to strengthen the region's business ecosystem.  Mid Hudson News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After negotiations paused in June, New York City and Catskills leaders are working on a two-year permitting plan for upstate reservoirs to be agreed on by the end of the year. City officials, local town leaders & environmental groups will use the new guidelines to balance water protection with community growth and plan for further changes after 2028.  Times Union
  • New York State offered an $1,800 birth allowance to new mothers on public assistance to help cover birth-related expenses — the benefit automatically applied when a newborn was added to an existing case and began on November 5.  Hudson Valley Post

HEALTH NEWS

  • Travelers from Poughkeepsie heading to New York City can use recent health inspection results from Nov. 10 to 14—117 of 203 establishments earned an A grade while others had lower scores based on food safety points.  Poughkeepsie Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Eldred’s eight-man football team won a 56-22 game on Saturday over second-ranked Unatego/Franklin/GMU + they will use their long-planned banquet as a pre-championship celebration today before playing Syracuse-area champion Morrisville-Eaton on Friday at Cicero-North High School. The Yellowjackets have built a six-game win streak and claimed the Section 9 championship.  Mid Hudson News
  • Army football lost 26-25 to Tulsa after surrendering an 11-point lead at Michie Stadium on November 22—leaving the Black Knights with a 5-5 record. The team faces a must-win game at UTSA on November 29 to secure bowl eligibility.  Poughkeepsie Journal
