- ➤ The City of Poughkeepsie announced that the annual Festival of Lights will be held on Friday, December 5th at Waryas Park, John Flowers Circle from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.—featuring a tree lighting ceremony, fireworks, live music and a visit from Santa Claus. - ➤ The Ulster County Sheriff's Office announced that retired K9 Farrell passed away on November 19th after serving seven years with —Deputy James Slinsky—. He was recognized for his role in drug detection, tracking missing persons, and engaging local children, and he was named for Sergeant Shawn M. Farrell II who died while serving in Afghanistan. - ➤ At the historic Putnam County Courthouse in Carmel, 37 teenagers took their oaths last Wednesday after a 10-session training on the criminal justice system; the ceremony increased local Youth Court membership to over 100 and marked the program’s 38th anniversary. Mid Hudson News
