COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Troopers from New York State Police Troop K will play a flag football tournament tomorrow at Roy C. Ketcham High School to honor late Station Commander Nigel Barnett (a Poughkeepsie resident) who died on September 16; the event starts at 6 p.m. and will raise money for his surviving family with games, food and prizes.  Mid Hudson News

  • Fantzye Bagels in Kingston won awards at the New York Bagel Fest on November 16th; the shop earned Schmear of the Year for its charred leek and lemon caper cream cheese (it also received honors as runner-up for Best Bagel and in the best sourdough bagel category).  Hudson Valley Post

  • Bard College named artist and professor Carlos Motta as the Keith Haring Chair in Art and Activism for 2025-26—he will lead teaching and research in art and human rights while focusing on minority issues.  WRRV

  • Scenic Hudson unveiled its new Northside Hub on Oct. 10—a net‑zero campus converted from a historic factory and brownfield in Poughkeepsie—that houses nonprofit offices and community spaces, with public access set to begin in January.  Times Union

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New York has delayed awarding its casino licenses until 2026—leaving Hudson Valley residents worried about lost job opportunities and revenue for projects like Yonkers' MGM Empire City. The postponement will postpone construction planning and delay local infrastructure updates.  Hudson Valley Post
  • Overnight lane closures on the NY Thruway between New Paltz and Newburgh began last night for work on the Meadow Hill Road Bridge near Exit 17 and will continue until Thursday. State police will stop traffic after 11 p.m. each night — motorists are advised to use alternate routes.  1450 WKIP

HEALTH NEWS

  • Officials in the Hudson Valley worry that measles is spreading after a child exposed visitors at a doctor's office and a traveler returned with the virus. Rockland County health officials confirmed three new cases and urged residents without immunity to get their booster shot — the disease can spread to many others.  Hudson Valley Post

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Ulster County completed Golden Hill Apartments, an $87 million affordable housing complex on the former county jail site in Kingston—this 164-unit development welcomes seniors and families and offers on-site services such as case management and broadband internet.
