  • Holiday Helping Hand, a 40‑year partnership between the Poughkeepsie Journal and United Way, is underway to fund 30 local groups that will deliver holiday gifts, meals and utility support for families in need—donations now will support programs through upcoming holiday celebrations.  Poughkeepsie Journal
  • Poughkeepsie neighbors are using a GoFundMe campaign to donate food and funds to help local families have a warm Thanksgiving amid rising grocery prices.   • New York lawmakers are reviewing a plan to legalize online gambling by 2026, a move that could boost the Hudson Valley economy and create new digital job opportunities.   • County officials urge residents to honor local veterans today at 11 a.m. at the Dutchess County War Memorial as several municipalities across the county hold similar ceremonies.  Mid Hudson News
  • Dutchess County is joining Operation Green Light to honor veterans by lighting key government buildings green on Veterans Day—these displays have been on since November 4 and continue through today.   • Astor Services will host a Wicked Cocktail Party on November 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Founder’s Hall in Rhinebeck + the event will raise funds for behavioral health and early childhood programs to help more than 10,000 local residents facing trauma, anxiety, and economic stress.  Mid Hudson News

  • Rich Arnott released his Section 9 football power rankings ahead of championship weekend—teams like MINISINK, MONROE-WOODBURY, and CORNWALL are set for key games with standout players such as WR Stetson Terpak and senior Noah Flores making significant contributions.  Mid Hudson News
  • John Jay-East Fishkill won the Section 1 Class AAA volleyball title when it beat North Rockland in a five-set match on Nov. 9 — Peyton Kellam led with 21 kills and coach Maria Mahoney praised her team's effort.
