  • Zeus Brewing of Poughkeepsie won a gold medal for its Urban Oasis sour ale at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver and was named Brewer of the Year for small breweries. The brewery will launch Zeus Dark Ale today—brewed with biscuit, wheat, and malts—at its site and Schatzi’s Pub and Bier Garden in partnership with Dutchess Tourism.  Mid Hudson News

  • Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center released tiny snapping turtles into a local pond so they can begin brumation—aiming to help the hatchlings safely transition into winter.  Hudson Valley Post
  • Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center (FFFWC) released tiny snapping turtles into a local pond after caring for them for two weeks so they can brumate for winter. The center said the quarter-sized turtles were moved because it was needed for them to rest safely in the mud and leaves.  WPDH

SPORTS NEWS

  • Warwick beat Roosevelt 34 to 21 with Giacomo Abbate scoring two touchdowns and joined the Class A playoffs—Valley Central won 20 to 14 to earn its first playoff berth in 10 years. In other games, Saugerties beat New Paltz 29 to 14, Newburgh won 56 to 6 and Pawling edged Onteora 34 to 28 in double overtime as tiebreakers will decide the playoff situation next week.  Mid Hudson News
