- ➤ Today, fans celebrate Chucky, The Notorious Killer Doll Day with movie marathons, costume contests, and themed treats across the Hudson Valley. - ➤ Green Chimneys Farm and Wildlife Center in Kent faced an Avian Influenza outbreak last January that led to the death of about two dozen waterfowl while over 300 animals were kept safe. On Thursday, students and staff joined guests for a ribbon cutting of a new waterfowl pond (costing $75,000) built to stop future virus spread and support safe animal-assisted programs. - ➤ Apartment rental prices in Poughkeepsie have stayed nearly the same as last year, with a median rent of around $2,065 — September listings showed typical rents of $2,083 — according to Zumper data. - ➤ Twenty-six schools qualified for the Section 9 girls soccer tournament with matches starting on October 27 and finals scheduled for November 1 and 2—top seeds include Monroe-Woodbury in Class AAA, Wallkill in AA, New Paltz in A, Mount Academy in B, and Burke Catholic in C. - ➤ Twenty-eight teams qualified for the Section 9 boys soccer tournament that began on Oct. 24 and will finish with five finals on Oct. 29-30; top seeds include Newburgh Free Academy in AAA, Cornwall in AA, Beacon in A, Mount Academy in B and Rhinebeck in C while Chapel Field in Class D was named champion.
