  • The free Music and Art Fall Festival will be held at Limar’s Farm and Nursery — 1167 Noxon Rd in Lagrangeville on Saturday, Oct 18, and will feature live music by rocker Richie Scarlet and blues singer Alexis P. Suter.  WRRV
  • The Regional Food Bank Hudson Valley received a $50,000 grant from the New York State Assembly to buy a new 20-foot freezer for its distribution center in Montgomery+ the freezer will let local food banks pick up more perishable foods for neighbors in need.  Mid Hudson News
  • Route 9 Mazda will host its first trunk or treat event on Saturday, Oct 25, from 1-4 p.m. at its South Rd location in Poughkeepsie—featuring candy, raffles, and a bounce house to provide children a safe Halloween celebration.  WRRV

  • Spirit Christmas is set to open a new store at The Shoppes at South Road this fall—featuring holiday decorations, gifts, and an immersive Peppermint Village display—and will offer photos with Santa from November 21 to December 24.  1450 WKIP
  • Catracho's, a new Honduran restaurant, opened a couple weeks ago on Main Street in the former Roatan spot and serves fresh, homemade dishes that have received a warm local response. CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday, a vigil honoring slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk was held at the MJN Convention Center in Poughkeepsie—over 100 attendees including officials and clergy gathered to remember his legacy while prosecutors continue seeking the death penalty for 22 year old Tyler Robinson.  1450 WKIP

ECONOMY NEWS

  • New York increased its maximum unemployment benefit from $504 to $869 on October 6 in response to rising costs and inflation, so many residents now receive higher payments automatically. More than a quarter of claimants now receive the new maximum and 28 percent get increased benefits (state records show).  Hudson Valley Post
