- ➤ Local firehouses are hosting fall events to engage the community. The Esopus Fire Department is selling raffle tickets—only 100 are available—for Headless Horseman hayrides, Putnam Lake Fire Department held its Touch A Truck event on September 27th at Green Chimneys in Brewster, Port Ewen Fire Department will host a Penny Social on October 5th, and Gardiner Fire and Rescue will hold a craft fair and bake sale on October 18th. - ➤ Officials warned Poughkeepsie residents that scammers are targeting New York inflation rebate checks scheduled to be mailed soon—ranging from $150 to $400—with fake texts, calls, emails and mail, and urged residents not to share personal information since the state tax department and IRS will not request such details.
