  • Six Feet Under Huguenot Street offers fall guided tours of one of America’s oldest burial grounds in New Paltz with select Thursday dates available and tickets at $25 for general admission; visitors are urged to book soon—reservations fill fast.  Hudson Valley Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hyde Park town officials demolished a fire-damaged home at 563 North Quaker Lane that had been an abandoned eyesore for over 10 years—its neglect turned it into a dumping ground for debris. On site, Supervisor Al Torreggiani and Councilman Don Prusakowski said Quest Environmental tested for asbestos to ensure the site was safe and restored to its original state.  Mid Hudson News
  • New York Attorney General Letitia James released rules under the SAFE for Kids Act to limit harmful social media features for users under 18—public comments are open for 60 days. Dutchess and Ulster counties have asked the federal government for more support for their EMS departments—Dutchess had a 69% on-scene response rate for Priority 1 calls and Ulster invested nearly $5 million to boost services.  News 12 Hudson Valley
  • Eight property owners along an abandoned Metro-North rail line in the Hudson Valley received a $1M settlement that gives each between $40,000 and $100,000 plus fees after a 2024 lawsuit over property rights. About 200 more landowners may be eligible—this settlement does not affect plans for a new hiking-biking trail that will link local communities.  Poughkeepsie Journal

  • Minisink Valley defeated Newburgh Free Academy 42-13 in a non-league game in Slate Hill, moving to a 3-0 record. Quarterback Robbie Labarbera rushed for 234 yards and three touchdowns — the team limited Newburgh to four yards and two first downs in the first half.  Mid Hudson News
