- ➤ Volunteer firefighters John Cronk and Eddie See were named Top Firefighters by the Firefighters Association of the State of New York after they rescued a mother and her children during a fire at an illegal Airbnb on Oct. 13 — they dedicated the honor to Shannon Hubbard, who lost her life trying to save her family. - ➤ A magical weekend called Spellbound in the Valley will be held on October 24th and 25th at the MJN Convention Center in Poughkeepsie—featuring book signings, panels and a costume party with over 100 authors and vendors from spooky genres. Hudson Valley Post
