- ➤ A large blaze on Aug. 5 at 224 Hooker Ave left the historic Hooker Avenue firehouse uninhabitable as firefighters extinguished intense flames with no injuries reported (Deputy Fire Chief Vincent Parise said the department will maintain full service and rebuild plans are underway). Daily Voice
- ➤ A 71-year-old woman got stuck for nearly 40 minutes in the malfunctioning elevator at the Rhinecliff Amtrak Station today after its safety and communication systems failed — federal officials have pressed Amtrak for urgent fixes as the company apologized and promised to replace the unit soon. - ➤ A 26-year-old resident of a rehabilitation facility in Hyde Park died after being left in a parked van on August 4 when temperatures reached about 85+ degrees, and State Police plus the District Attorney’s Office are investigating his death with an autopsy conducted on August 5. Mid Hudson News
