  • New York State Police arrested 48-year-old Maynard Davis on August 3 after stopping his Chevrolet Impala for traffic violations on the Taconic State Parkway in Pleasant Valley+ a K9 search uncovered nearly $28,000 in cash and 72 grams of crack cocaine, leading to his arraignment and remand to Dutchess County Jail.  Daily Voice

  • A 26-year-old man was found dead in a van outside New Horizons Resources — a home for people with developmental disabilities — on Cream Street in Hyde Park Monday afternoon, and State Police with the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office investigated the case.  Times Union

  • Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino has selected Bill Beale as Commissioner of the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response after more than two decades in public safety—a role where he led key initiatives such as the county’s accreditation and improved ambulance services. His appointment will be reviewed by the County Legislature and, if approved by the Public Safety Committee, put to a full board vote on September 8.  Mid Hudson News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Doctors warn that a rare brain condition called acute necrotizing encephalopathy—linked to the flu—is affecting children, with 41 cases reported in the past two flu seasons where nearly 30 percent died within three days. The report adds that most of the affected children were unvaccinated and urges flu shots to help prevent severe outcomes.  Hudson Valley Post
