  • Emergency crews responded to a rollover crash on Saturday, August 2 at 11:13 p.m. near a McDonald’s on Route 9 in Wappingers Falls—police, fire, and EMS assisted—and the driver was evaluated and taken to a local hospital.  Daily Voice

CRIME NEWS

  • A 42-year-old inmate stabbed a correction officer with a homemade icepick-style weapon at Green Haven Correctional Facility on July 21 and injured another officer when he charged aggressively, with both victims taken for treatment and the inmate later transferred to Shawangunk Correctional Facility—union officials urged prosecution.  Daily Voice

  • Laurent Rejto, who co-founded the Woodstock Film Festival and led the Hudson Valley Film Commission, died on July 27 after battling pancreatic cancer—his work helped grow local film spending and build a thriving industry in our region.  Times Union
  • Thousands of residents from across the Hudson Valley attended the 18th annual La Guelaguetza festival on Sunday at Waryas Park, where colorful folkloric groups performed traditional songs, dances + showcased handmade crafts.   • Canadian wildfires have sent smoke into dozens of states, and AirNow data from Aug. 4 shows parts of New York are rated unhealthy for sensitive groups—especially for residents with asthma or heart concerns.
