GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Assemblymember Sarahana Shrestha proposed a bill in spring to form the Hudson Valley Power Authority— a public benefit corporation aimed at taking over Central Hudson’s infrastructure and capping rates at 6% of monthly incomes. HEALTH NEWS

  • A new report by Saving Rural Hospitals finds that 29 of 50 rural hospitals in New York are at risk of closing because insurance payments do not cover essential services. Eighteen hospitals face immediate danger — raising fears amid federal funding cuts — and officials warn that these closures could reduce healthcare access in the region.  Hudson Valley Post
