  • Today the 2025 Ulster County Fair opened in New Paltz at the Ulster County Fairgrounds on Libertyville Road—bringing rides, games, live entertainment and food to the community. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Chubby Checker will perform today at 8 p.m.—and free admission is offered for children under 36 inches and seniors until 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday as the fair runs through August 3.  1450 WKIP
  • Families visit the Ulster County Fair this week in New Paltz where New York State’s largest traveling Ferris wheel lifts riders 110 feet in one of 24 gondolas — ride tickets must be purchased online or at the fairgrounds as the event runs through August 3rd.  Hudson Valley Post

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Amalio Lombardi, 61, was struck by an excavator at the Beacon job site on Fishkill Avenue and Conklin Street on July 28th—he was pronounced dead at the scene and city leaders ordered flags lowered to half-staff in his honor.  Daily Voice

CRIME NEWS

  • Two men ambushed and stabbed a victim outside a Monroe home just after midnight on July 29, and the victim was taken first to Aizer Health Center then to Garnet Health Medical Center in stable condition while police charged 20-year-old Josue Huilca-Rea (assault in the second degree, gang assault in the second degree, and menacing in the second degree) and 26-year-old Jony David Perez-Sanchez (assault in the third degree, gang assault in the second degree, and menacing in the second degree).  Daily Voice

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rehabilitation work on the east end of the Mid-Hudson Bridge will begin this fall and continue through the summer of 2027 while work under the bridge keeps traffic moving. The $34.4 million project — featuring lightweight concrete fills, new precast deck systems, lead abatement, and arch repainting — aims to enhance the bridge’s structural support and traffic safety.  Mid Hudson News

  • Rich Ice Cream Co. is recalling over 110,292 cases of ice cream bars in New York due to a Listeria risk that could seriously affect pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and the immunocompromised—Tropicale Foods is also recalling products for containing undeclared milk that may trigger severe allergies.  Hudson Valley Post
