  • Daniel Mochon of the Hughsonville Fire District was named Youth Mentor of the Year by the Firemen’s Association for his work reviving Explorer Post 45 that trains young future firefighters. He received the honor alongside local leaders including State Senator Rob Rolison and Assemblyman AJ Beephan during a DCVFA convention hosted by the Pawling Fire Department — a nod to his strong commitment to youth development.  Mid Hudson News
  • Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino hosted the ninth Faces of Resilience networking event at the FDR Presidential Library’s Henry A. Wallace Visitor and Education Center where over 100 women gathered to connect and hear from speakers. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Over the 12-month period ending in June, the Hudson Valley added 5,700 private sector jobs to reach a total of 846,000, with most new jobs coming from private education, health services, and leisure and hospitality. Sullivan County grew fastest at 1.9 percent, followed by Greene and Rockland counties at 1.8 percent and 1.7 percent respectively.  Mid Hudson News

  • State and local officials recently toured Sojourner Truth State Park in Kingston, where a spring-fed quarry will be transformed into a swimming area with a 12,000-square-foot wading zone and a deeper free-swim section, as part of a $76 million project that adds a bathhouse pavilion, picnic area, and trails—Lake Sophia is set to open next summer. The project aims to provide free and equitable access to a safe swimming spot for the community.  Times Union

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nirwana Foods LLC issued a recall yesterday on its 28-ounce pouches of golden raisins after state inspectors found undeclared sulfites that could trigger serious allergic reactions. The recalled product—marked with lot number 24/351-2410—was sold at Maharaja Super Market and Villager Farmers Market stores, and customers are told to return any purchased pouches for a full refund.  Daily Voice
