Experts have identified the New York counties most at risk from hurricanes this season, and several Hudson Valley counties made the list—officials using upgraded technology predict up to 19 named storms and three major hurricanes may develop as the season continues.
This forecast urges residents to prepare for potentially severe weather through November 30.
🏥 Health
Joellen Lampman from Cornell said several tick species, including black-legged, American dog, and Lone Star ticks, are staying active this summer due to cooler, humid weather — so residents should wear long clothing, use repellent and treat clothes with permethrin.
Residents are advised to shower and check for ticks after outdoor activities — a necessary step to lower the chances of tick-borne illness.
