- ➤ The state auditor Tobias Otieno (41) from Hyde Park was arrested and charged with grand larceny and public corruption after he allegedly stole nearly $406,000 from Wallkill by using confidential audit passwords, while the bank restored the lost funds and town officials reported the fraud. - ➤ Officials warned that scam texts claimed a traffic infraction with a deadline and tricked drivers into clicking fake links — the messages are part of a growing smishing trend and were not sent by any official agency. Daily Voice
- ➤ Poughkeepsie police arrested 31-year-old Harold Bruno—a convicted felon and wanted parole absconder—near Main and Rose Streets on July 9 after finding him with narcotics, and he was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Daily Voice
- ➤ Officers led by SWAT raided two apartments at Hudson Garden Apartments on July 9 in Poughkeepsie, arresting four men and seizing crack, fentanyl, a loaded handgun, and other evidence—authorities said the bust has disrupted a dangerous drug network. Daily Voice
- ➤ On Wednesday morning, Dutchess County Drug Task Force officers raided The Bricks at Smith Street Housing/Hudson Garden Apartments and arrested four men—Hudhayfah Abdullahi, Adrain King, Eugene Cummings III, and Marvin Lunsford—with Abdullahi charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, King with criminal possession, and Cummings and Lunsford facing charges for possessing a loaded firearm and drugs as agents seized crack cocaine, fentanyl, drug packaging, scales, and a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine with additional charges pending.
