CRIME NEWS
- ➤ New York State Police divers searched Spring Lake in Red Hook for clues in the 1993 murder of Brian Charles Burton; the team used drones and sonar (new tests revived the case) as they combed the lake from Monday through Wednesday. Mid Hudson News
- ➤ A Poughkeepsie police officer faces multiple felony charges and a local prosecutor was arrested for child endangerment in a domestic violence case involving their children—both were arraigned in family court and later released. News 12 Hudson Valley
- ➤ An auditor from the State Comptroller’s Office reviewing the Town of Wallkill’s finances was arrested and charged with grand larceny and public corruption for stealing nearly $406,000 using confidential bank information; the bank reimbursed the town, and Tobias Otieno (41, Hyde Park) remains in custody without bail. - ➤ A Hudson Valley high school student—Haitian national Alan Junior Pierre—was detained last month by ICE during a routine check in the Bronx. - ➤ Developer Joseph Amendola presented plans to the Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency on Wednesday for his $4 million mixed-use Town Center project on Route 55 in LaGrange—designed to include four commercial spaces and 14 apartments while seeking mortgage and sales tax exemptions plus a payment in lieu of taxes by this fall.
