- ➤ On Friday morning, June 27, a Massachusetts motorcyclist named Charles Helmka was killed when his Harley Davidson was struck by a 2008 Honda Accord near mile marker 24.1 on I-84 in Wallkill—authorities said the Newburgh driver was treated for minor injuries and the investigation is ongoing. - ➤ Town of Fishkill cops, with help from Beacon, New York State, Dutchess County, and Orange County units, apprehended Newburgh resident Danial Rios, 36, and 33-year-old Alyssa Montalvo after a stolen black Volkswagen was tracked from a Route 9 area near Home Depot to the wooded Stoney Kill Wildlife Area—both now face multiple charges. - ➤ On Wednesday, police stopped a 2014 Mercedes on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown and recovered a Colt semi-automatic gun reported stolen in Vermont as they arrested Poughkeepsie driver Jack Thomas and his passenger Jiovanni Atherton—both now face charges for weapon and stolen property possession.
