- ➤ Jose Luis Mojica, 31, was captured in Poughkeepsie just before 8 p.m. on June 25 after trying to flee officers near Lexington Avenue—he was wanted for a parole violation stemming from a second-degree robbery conviction and was processed before being transferred to Dutchess County Jail. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Poughkeepsie Social Security office will reopen Monday, June 30 behind a new public entrance at 4 Academy Street — customers are urged to schedule appointments to reduce wait times. The agency also recommends continuing to use online services for faster processing. Mid Hudson News
- ➤ Dutchess County Comptroller Dan Aymar-Blair said that after five years and nearly $5 million of COVID funds, taxpayers have seen only design schematics and an empty lot for the planned youth community center at the former YMCA on Montgomery Street. County Executive Sue Serino said she remains committed to expanding youth services while exploring new options for the YOU project—set to cost around $40 million in future construction—along with current grants supporting local youth programs.
