CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Luc LeBlanc, a Canadian trucker, was arraigned last week in Ulster County after being extradited for charges of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in connection with a 2020 crash that killed a 47-year-old mother, a 14-year-old, and a 10-year-old — he is accused of driving his tractor-trailer erratically — according to the district attorney. - ➤ New York joined a nationwide $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family to address their role in the opioid crisis. The settlement will give New York up to $250 million for opioid abatement over 15 years and requires the release of more than 30 million documents—ending the Sacklers' control over Purdue. 1450 WKIP
- ➤ The City of Poughkeepsie Police PBA held its biennial awards dinner on June 16—where officers on the 4 p.m. to midnight shift were honored for confiscating illegal guns from suspects and saving lives.
