CULTURE NEWS

  • The Dutchess County Pride Center held its seventh annual Pride Parade on Saturday in Poughkeepsie as hundreds marched along Market Street and gathered for the noon step-off—about 800 people attended the parade and festival at Waryas Park featuring the world’s largest Pride Flag.   • Overlook Mountain Center acquired a 37-acre site on Overlook Mountain that contains nearly 50 ancient rock formations—over 40 small stone cairns and six large cairns—and will research and protect these structures that experts say were built by Indigenous tribes centuries ago.  Times Union

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Clearwater board approved a five-year business plan on May 8 to secure the sloop's future and expand its programs for the Hudson Valley. Led by Executive Director David Toman, the plan will build cash reserves, grow private partnerships, and boost education—helping the group serve local communities better.  Mid Hudson News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dutchess County inspection records show that seven restaurants received five or more violations in May— a Poughkeepsie hotel had one critical violation and 12 non-critical ones while a Beacon Mexican restaurant was flagged for one critical and eight non-critical violations. Public records detail issues such as poor sanitation and cross-contamination practices, and the online database provides updated inspection results for local residents.  Poughkeepsie Journal
