  • On June 5, a Poughkeepsie officer fatally shot Brain Czornyj during a mobile crisis response at a Fair Oaks Drive residence after he reportedly held a samurai sword. The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation has begun an inquiry into the shooting — further details are pending.  Poughkeepsie Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie will launch the new ASAP program this fall to help full-time students complete their degrees on time.
