Good morning, Poughkeepsie.

Police responded at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday to a domestic incident on Fair Oaks Drive when a man with autism having an episode, armed with a sword, injured a mobile crisis worker; an officer fired two shots—killing the man—and both the worker and the suspect’s father with a head injury were taken to a local hospital while state authorities investigate the shooting.

On June 4, top Section 9 track and field athletes competed at the state qualifier in events like the high jump, pentathlon, hurdles, 100M dash, 200M dash and 800M—athletes from Marlboro, Washingtonville, Cornwall and other communities took part.

Ryan Mayer, a senior for Wallkill, pitched a complete game six-hitter with eight strikeouts to secure a 2—1 win over Cornwall in the school’s third straight Section 9 title.

He holds a 6—3 record with an ERA below 2 and bats .470 while Wallkill will play Horseheads in a state Class AA quarterfinal today.
