ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Hudson Valley father and daughter left Abol Campground on June 1 for a hike up Katahdin in Maine; authorities confirmed that father Tim Keiderling (58) was found dead near the summit by a Maine Warden Service K9 — and his daughter Esther remains missing as search efforts continue.  Hudson Valley Post

CRIME NEWS

  • The Dutchess County Drug Task Force arrested a suspect near Main and Market Streets Tuesday afternoon and later searched a High Street home after neighbors complained of drug activity—fentanyl and cocaine were recovered while three detained men were released.  Mid Hudson News
  • A 68-year-old school staffer from Hyde Park was arrested on Tuesday, June 3 for allegedly touching three Arlington High students during the 2024-2025 school year—he was charged with counts of forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, placed on administrative leave, and must return to Town of LaGrange Court on June 17.  Mid Hudson News
  • Police recovered a body from Fallkill Creek Tuesday morning between North Cherry and North White Streets, and the fire department brought Ladder Truck 2—stopping traffic—to help retrieve the body as foul play was not suspected.  Mid Hudson News
  • Thomas Zemko—45 from Pleasant Valley— was sentenced on June 4 to 10 years in state prison for first-degree assault after he used a razor blade to slash his girlfriend’s face on January 23, 2024 and then prevented her from getting timely medical care—leaving her permanently scarred.  Daily Voice

  • Movies Under the Walkway returns at Upper Landing Park, Poughkeepsie for a new summer season of free family movies. The series will kick off on June 26 — with films scheduled on June 26, July 12, July 26, and August 9 along with activities for children before each screening.  Hudson Valley Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Hochul declared June as Worker Safety Month to improve workplace safety for millions of New York workers. Three new laws — the Retail Worker Safety Act, the Fashion Workers Act, and the Warehouse Worker Injury Reduction Program — will take effect later this month to require employers to provide a safer work environment.  Hudson Valley Post
