  • On June 1, 2025, a box truck lost control on Wingdale Mountain Road in Union Vale when break failure occurred—resulting in one passenger’s death and injuring the driver who is now hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries as police said the investigation is ongoing.  News 12 Hudson Valley

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sunday morning, Poughkeepsie police responded to a shooting near 28 South Clover Street, briefly chased a suspect, and treated a person with gunshot wounds (hip and buttock injuries that were not life-threatening) at a local hospital (officers are still investigating for more clues).  Mid Hudson News
  • Jan Michael Deere's second murder trial for the 2024 killing of Jaquan Fryar continues today before Dutchess County Court Judge Edward McLoughlin – the jury is expected to start deliberations mid-week as co-defendant Joseph Gonzalez pleaded guilty to assault and criminal possession of a weapon.  Mid Hudson News
  • The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office warned Hudson Valley residents about a new DMV scam—fraudulent texts and emails claim unpaid tolls and warn that vehicle registrations will be suspended if not paid by the next day while linking to a fake DMV website.  Hudson Valley Post

  • The Dutchess County Veterans Court and Judicial Diversion program held a graduation ceremony at the courthouse on Thursday with eight graduates—attended by New York State Administrative Judge Anne Minihan, County Executive Sue Serino, DA Anthony Parisi and Public Defender Margaret Walker, officials said the participants reached sobriety and earned a second chance to contribute to society.  Mid Hudson News
