  • Senator Rob Rolison honored SPC Nathan Grant (Nate the Great) at a ceremony in Albany this week for his induction into the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame. The ceremony recognized Grant’s military service and his ongoing work supporting local veterans in the Hudson Valley.  Mid Hudson News
  • Pastor Michael Hargraves, known for his comforting presence at Calvary Chapel of the Hudson Valley and a former correction officer, died on May 21 just after his 61st birthday. Thousands, including County Executive Sue Serino, attended his memorial on May 27; he is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.  Daily Voice
  • The Hudson Valley Tenants Union launched its effort to build tenant power after Kingston declared a housing emergency in 2022 — lead organizer June Nemon said over a dozen nearby municipalities have set protections against no-cause evictions.  Mid Hudson News

  • Poughkeepsie's Galleria will host Paranormal Cirque II from June 19th to June 22nd, 2026, showcasing acrobatics+magic+dark comedy for adults. The R-rated show will feature a spooky funhouse experience, daring stunts and a unique circus atmosphere.  WRRV
  • A movie filmed at Kevin McCurdy’s Haunted Mansion will premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in June. Filming wrapped in early Oct. 2025 (featuring over 20 local cast and crew) as the production brings fresh talent to the forefront.  Hudson Valley Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Graduates from Our Lady of Lourdes High School celebrated their 65th commencement on May 29 at the school lawn (with officials conferring diplomas, speeches and a cap toss marking the milestone).  Poughkeepsie Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New York officials asked the USDA to declare disaster status after a spring freeze damaged Hudson Valley crops. Local farm owner Danny Deising said his apple crop is down to 30% production, and a decision is expected in the coming weeks to unlock aid for affected farms.  News 12 Hudson Valley
  • New York State approved $18 million in funding for 25 downtown revitalization projects across the Hudson Valley, including $10 million for 10 projects in Poughkeepsie. Upgrades will enhance civic, commercial, and housing spaces with work beginning soon — boosting the area's economic growth.  WPDH

HEALTH NEWS

  • Residents in Poughkeepsie should take preventive measures as mosquito season is underway, with health officials urging the use of long sleeves, repellents, and intact window screens to reduce bite risks (and fight disease spread). Experts suggest removing standing water from properties to lessen mosquito breeding sites.  Poughkeepsie Journal

  • Tyler Adams (27) began on the Poughkeepsie Heat in 2012 and will captain the U.S. team in the World Cup next month; the Wappinger native gives back locally by hosting clinics (a local effort).  Mid Hudson News
  • At Rondout Valley High School on May 29, Cornwall boys and girls swept the Section 9 Class B track and field championships—Cornwall edged Wallkill and Minisink Valley on the boys side while the girls beat Minisink Valley and Goshen.  Poughkeepsie Journal
