COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wreck Room HV is hosting the Tag & Smash the Van event on Friday, May 29 at the Poughkeepsie Galleria parking lot, where registered participants will spray paint and smash a van section (12-2 p.m.) to relieve stress and connect with the community.  WRRV
  • Dunkin’ is hosting its annual Iced Coffee Day today with $1 from every iced coffee sold going to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation to help local children battling hunger or illness. The event marks its fifth year following strong fundraising success from 2025.  Daily Voice
  • On May 25, International Missing Children’s Day was observed to honor child safety and remember Etan Patz, whose disappearance led to lasting efforts. Local groups such as Hope Alive in the Hudson Valley worked to support measures that protect children.  Hudson Valley Post

CULTURE NEWS

  • Lisa Kudrow returned to Vassar College last week to join a conversation about the finale of her HBO series The Comeback. She spoke with alumnus Dan Bucatinsky and director Michael Patrick King (highlighting her deep ties to the local arts scene).  WRRV
  • Hudson Valley Shakespeare's new campus in Garrison opened on May 17, featuring the Samuel H. Scripps Theater Center and 98 acres of restored land. The $33 million project, designed by Studio Gang and recognized as the first public purpose-built LEED Platinum theater in the country, will host productions like As You Like It and King Lear this summer.  WRRV

  • The East Fishkill Police are joining New York’s Click It or Ticket campaign running May 18 through May 31 to remind drivers and all passengers to buckle up as fines can reach $140 (with tougher penalties for unrestrained minors).  Hudson Valley Post

  • Health officials warn that rabid bats are a concern in New York after confirmed cases in Moira, Franklin County and Rome this spring; two residents received urgent treatment from bat exposures and Hudson Valley residents are urged to seek medical advice if contact occurs & remain cautious.  Hudson Valley Post
