- ➤ Walmart said it will close 11 stores outside New York—two in Georgia, one in Maryland, one in Ohio, one in Wisconsin, one in Colorado, and five in California—and will remodel 23 New York stores after strong quarterly profits were reported. Hudson Valley Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A study from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York found that some college majors, like Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education, offer the lowest starting salaries for graduates. The report shows that these low wages continue into mid-career earnings up to 25 years after graduation (with starting pay near $49,000). Hudson Valley Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Kathy Hochul announced a $254 billion budget deal reached on April 28 that will send up to $400 inflation refund checks to qualifying taxpayers and cut income tax rates for more than 8 million New Yorkers.
