- ➤ On April 23, 2025, a manhole explosion in Poughkeepsie caused by an electrical fault on an underground cable nearly missed a child and someone pushing a baby stroller — Central Hudson is inspecting the cable to pinpoint the fault while confirming it was not related to the city's natural gas distribution system. - ➤ Jordan White, 42, was pulled over on Old Post Road in Wappinger when troopers saw signs of intoxication — his blood alcohol level was 0.22% while he had three children in the back seat, and he faces multiple charges including a felony violation of Leandra's Law. News 12 Hudson Valley
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Poughkeepsie City School District Superintendent Dr. Eric Rosser presented the 2025-2026 budget of $147.6 million, nearly $9 million more than last year, which will fund new programs such as a full five-day Pre-K schedule, district bus transportation for young students, a new social worker, additional P-Tech seats, a marching band, and a robotics club while relying on a 1.247 percent property tax levy and planned staffing cuts. A public hearing is scheduled for May 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the district administration building and the school board election and budget vote will be held on May 20. Mid Hudson News
