- ➤ Health officials in the Hudson Valley have warned residents after new rabies cases were confirmed in a raccoon and a white-tailed deer in Columbia County; anyone bitten or scratched should wash the area and seek medical care, and a vaccination clinic is scheduled for Apr. 21. WPDH
- ➤ The CDC warns that a drug-resistant Shigella superbug causing severe bloody diarrhea is rising in New York and can spread through contaminated food, water, or close contact. Residents should wash their hands regularly and seek care if symptoms persist. WRRV
