CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A mistrial was declared in the murder trial of Edward Holley, who is accused of killing Megan McDonald in 2003 in a Wallkill field—jurors could not reach agreement after over a week of deliberations. Poughkeepsie Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jim Gordon was confirmed as chair of the Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency by the Legislature amid community concern over a proposed landfill in Wawarsing. During Tuesday's public comment period he urged lawmakers to trust the county’s Solid Waste Management Plan that seeks alternative waste solutions before selecting a landfill site. Mid Hudson News
- ➤ Senator Rob Rolison—a retired detective from Poughkeepsie—urged the governor to let corrections officers fired after a wildcat walkout return so that the National Guard can end its patrol of state prisons. He said about 2,000 officers left their jobs and that reinstating them is needed to protect both staff and the incarcerated. Mid Hudson News
