- ➤ A study by SmartAsset finds that Putnam County stretches paychecks the furthest with a score of 85.28 and high purchasing power, while Suffolk County ranks second with a score of 83.18; Dutchess County—where Poughkeepsie is located—scored 63.45 with a 3.6% unemployment rate. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wappingers Central School District plans to move 6th grade from elementary schools to junior highs as part of Proposition 2 on the May 20 ballot. The proposal will free up 33 classrooms for other classes and include upgrades to athletic facilities across the district. Hudson Valley Post

- ➤ Governor Hochul announced on April 14 that discovery law changes will be added to the state budget to protect crime victims and hold offenders accountable—she said dismissing cases over minor paperwork errors compromises justice.
