Poughkeepsie police arrested Denise Gilpin, 50, for allegedly fatally stabbing her 78-year-old mother at her home at 2 Oak Crescent on Monday afternoon—she now faces a second-degree murder charge—and are continuing their investigation.

A Poughkeepsie man, 31, was arrested on Wednesday, April 9 when undercover officers bought illegal drugs on Carroll Street—he now faces a serious drug charge and was set to appear in City Court on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the New York State DEC confirmed changes to its endangered species list for the first time in 26 years—adding the Atlantic coast leopard frog and other species recognized under federal law.
