CULTURE NEWS

  • A new report from the Center for an Urban Future shows that arts and culture jobs in the Mid-Hudson Region grew by 33.7 percent from 2014 to 2024, adding 2,343 employment opportunities. The report urges state leaders to boost investment and support for local creative spaces.  Mid Hudson News

  • Fuel prices rose to $4.07 a gallon as of Monday, and experts warn that if the Iran war continues, shortages in diesel, fertilizer, and aluminum will drive grocery costs higher for local shoppers.  WRRV
  • Gross Domestic Product increased throughout the Hudson Valley last year. The data shows Greene County’s economy grew 12.7 percent while Washington and Nassau registered only 0.1 percent growth (Dutchess and Ulster counties saw growth of 4.4 and 4.1 percent, respectively).  Mid Hudson News

  • Health officials in Poughkeepsie report that influenza B, COVID-19 and RSV remain active after holiday gatherings — urging residents to wash hands and update vaccinations as flu season continues through May.  WPDH
  • Local health officials report that influenza, COVID-19 and RSV remain active today in our Hudson Valley & residents are advised to wash hands, stay home if they feel sick, and keep up with vaccinations.  Hudson Valley Post
  • State health officials warn that respiratory viruses including influenza, RSV, and COVID-19 remain active statewide with influenza B accounting for 88 percent of cases. Residents are urged to wash hands + stay home if sick to curb the spread as activity may persist through May.  WRRV
  • State health officials updated guidelines letting residents eat up to four meals per month of fish such as striped bass, brown bullhead, and perch from the Lower Hudson River—after decades of cleanup from PCB pollution.
