  • Catskill Mountain Railroad offers the Easter Bunny Express on March 28, 29 and April 4 from Kingston. The 90 minute ride includes a visit to an Easter Egg Patch with treat pick-up, and tickets range from $19 to $25 (toddlers ride free).  Hudson Valley Post

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Congressman Mike Lawler has urged federal officials to fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund to keep parks, trails and other green spaces available for recreation in communities from Rockland to Dutchess counties (the program is permanently financed at $900 million annually under the Great American Outdoors Act).  Mid Hudson News
  • State officials today announced a pilot program offering free PFAS testing in private wells and rebates up to $5,000 for treatment systems in counties including Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, Ulster, and Westchester. Property owners can apply online after completing any necessary mitigation work.  Mid Hudson News

  • Deputies Santo and Kutz of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office rescued an injured hawk on Wednesday, Mar. 11, and the bird is now set for rehabilitation to return it to its natural habitat.  Hudson Valley Post
