  • A local lottery win sees a player hold a $1M Powerball ticket bought at South Gate Deli & Grocery in Poughkeepsie. Officials confirmed it was sold during Monday, March 16 with numbers 07, 10, 20, 47, 52 and Powerball 20, and the winner remains unknown.  Daily Voice

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Dutchess County Fair in Rhinebeck will host concerts by 38 Special and Almost Queen this summer, with 38 Special performing on Aug. 26 at 7:30 p.m. and Almost Queen on Aug. 28; tickets go on sale March 23, children under 11 will enter free, and parking is complimentary.  1450 WKIP
  • The free children's book festival will take place on Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dutchess Community College’s Falcon Hall, where kids can meet favorite authors and illustrators, get books signed, and snap photos with costumed characters + buy personalized books.  Hudson Valley Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New York lawmakers proposed a $266 billion budget plan that will send 'POWER' checks—$500 for residents earning under $150,000 and $300 for those between $150,000 and $300,000—to help cover rising utility costs. The rebate payments and tax cuts will begin this fall.  Hudson Valley Post
  • The New York State Assembly proposed a two-year freeze on electric and gas rate hikes in its 2026–2027 state budget plan, though Governor Hochul has rejected the measure. Critics warn that costs may shift elsewhere as utility companies work to recover their expenses.  Hudson Valley Post

  • WRWD Country & N&S Supply host the 36th Annual Cares for Kids St. Jude Radiothon at the iHeart Hudson Valley building in Poughkeepsie, running Friday, Mar. 20 from 6am to 7pm and Saturday, Mar. 21 from 8am to 7pm with a phone bank open throughout weekend for donations.  1450 WKIP
