  • The Dutchess Community College Foundation (DCCF) will host its annual gala, 'Our Community’s Bridge to the Future,' at The Grandview on March 28 to honor donors and community leaders; guests will enjoy a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner and awards.  Mid Hudson News

  • Walmart is rolling out digital shelf labels in all New York stores to replace paper price tags, updating prices instantly outside shopping hours to ensure on-shelf prices match checkout totals (a move aimed at addressing customer complaints).  Hudson Valley Post

  • Dutchess County Parks is offering summer outdoor programs for kids aged 6 to 17 that teach hiking, survival, and nature exploration at Bowdoin Park and Wilcox Memorial Park. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A damaging windstorm hit the Hudson Valley Monday night into Tuesday morning, leaving thousands of customers without power in Westchester, Dutchess, Ulster and nearby counties; utility crews are working to restore electricity today while some outages may extend into Wednesday.  Daily Voice

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Kathy Hochul urged the federal government to ease rising gas prices affecting New Yorkers, noting prices jumped roughly 62 cents per gallon amid Middle East conflict (as state measures are planned). Energy Secretary Chris Wright predicted prices will drop below $3 per gallon by summer when tensions ease.  1450 WKIP
  • Governor Kathy Hochul announced a proposal to curb rising gas and diesel prices by removing hidden utility fees, linking executive wages to affordability, and having large energy users cover their own costs (a plan that may adjust the state's climate law).
