  • Holiday Helping Hand ended on Jan. 30 with 191 donations totaling $22,779.14 to support local organizations gearing up for the next holiday season (the campaign has helped Dutchess County families for over 40 years).  Poughkeepsie Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AARP reported that New York utility customers owed over $1.8 billion in unpaid bills and more than 1.3 million were more than two months behind on payments as of December. Rising wholesale costs and increased delivery rates led utilities to disconnect over 400,000 households in 2025.  Times Union

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • After Sunday's heavy snowfall and deep freeze, many roofs across the Hudson Valley are at risk of forming ice dams that could let water leak into homes next week. Homeowners are advised to safely clear snow with roof rakes or call professionals if damage starts.  Hudson Valley Post

  • Middletown-based Orange Bank & Trust President Michael J. Gilfeather was elected as a Class A Director to the New York Fed Board and will represent banks with capital between $40 million and $2 billion until Dec. 31, 2028.  Mid Hudson News
