  • The ASPCA opened its first recovery center outside NYC in Pawling in mid-Dec 2025—an expansive 33,000-sqft facility caring for vulnerable dogs and offering adoption, fostering and volunteer opportunities.  Poughkeepsie Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Breeze Airways will begin flights on May 6 from Stewart International Airport to Raleigh-Durham International Airport (flights operate Wednesdays and Saturdays), giving Hudson Valley travelers a nonstop connection and access to 30 onward destinations. The service includes a BreezeThru option to continue nonstop from Raleigh-Durham to Tampa.  Hudson Valley Post

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Breeze Airways will start new twice-weekly flights from Stewart to Raleigh-Durham + connect to Tampa beginning May 6. Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole said the service will bring more economic opportunities to the Hudson Valley.  Mid Hudson News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation approved the environmental review for the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail Tuesday, letting the 7.5-mile accessible trail project move forward amid concerns about two elevated sections and increased visitor traffic in Cold Spring; completion is expected in 2031.  Times Union

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross warns that blood supplies have dropped 35% because of a heavy flu season and winter storms, urging donors to attend local drives such as the one today at West Point (11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Additional drives are scheduled across the Hudson Valley.  Hudson Valley Post

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Local homeowners are advised to prepare for winter storms by opening cupboards, setting thermostats to at least 60 degrees, and allowing a drip from faucets—measures that help prevent expensive pipe freezes while residents should monitor local forecasts daily.  Poughkeepsie Journal
