- ➤ Governor Kathy Hochul proposed a $20 million free childcare pilot for Dutchess County during a visit to Poughkeepsie on Jan. 14, with up to 1,000 seats planned for children under three; similar pilots will launch in Broome & Monroe counties next year if approved. 1450 WKIP

- ➤ Retired NYSP major Frank J. Keyser, 65, died on Sunday, Jan. 11 from a 9/11 related illness after a 34-year career protecting the Hudson Valley. He is survived by his wife Louise and son Austin and funeral arrangements will be announced later. Daily Voice
