  • A major fire broke out on New Year's Day at the Millennium Kingdom Family Church compound on Mansion Drive in Hyde Park — over 10 fire departments responded after Dutchess County 911 dispatched firefighters at 8:12 a.m. and officials later switched to defensive tactics as flames spread across a 60+-acre site.  Mid Hudson News
  • A devastating fire burned through the historic Crumwold Estate (home to Millennial Kingdom Church) in Hyde Park on Jan. 1, prompting firefighters from New York and Connecticut to work throughout the day to contain the blaze while local officials confirmed no injuries.  Daily Voice

HEALTH NEWS

  • New state health coverage laws expand essential services for New Yorkers when new provisions take effect on the first day of the new year. The changes will require insurers to extend benefits such as emergency EpiPen coverage, breast cancer screenings and scalp cooling systems for chemotherapy patients.  Mid Hudson News
