About this event

Lucky To Be Alive

Lifelong friends and solo artists Rachelle Garniez and Madeleine Peyroux take us on a musical journey woven with stories, and reflections on the remarkable power of live music to lift our spirits, deepen our connections, and remind us of the joy, comfort, and belonging we find in sharing music together.

Performer Bios

Multi-instrumentalist singer Rachelle Garniez’ s performances are a mix of original genre-fluid story songs interspersed with stream of consciousness improvisations. From her beginnings as a busker on the streets of New York to concert stages all over, her tragi-comic sensibilities bemuse and inspire audiences of all stripes.

Madeleine Peyroux deftly interweaves jazz, folk, and Americana with a distinctive, honeyed croon that delivered her from the Paris streets to concert halls. As interpreter and composer, Peyroux crafts her intimate performances where the audience is “part of a dialogue,” she says. “That’s what art is. Music is the only way I’ve ever built community.”
