The Burritt Percussion Group was founded by internationally celebrated percussionist, composer, and educator Michael Burritt , whose influence has helped shape an entire generation of percussion artists around the world. Composed of former students now enjoying distinguished careers as performers, educators, soloists, and chamber musicians, the ensemble serves as both a celebration of Burritt’s music and a reflection of his lasting artistic legacy. Blending virtuosic performance, dynamic collaboration, and the unmistakable energy of contemporary percussion, the Burritt Percussion Group presents electrifying programs featuring Burritt’s original compositions alongside works that have inspired and defined today’s percussion landscape. From powerful rhythmic intensity to moments of lyricism and color, the ensemble showcases the limitless versatility and expressive depth of musicianship at the highest level.

Rooted in mentorship, artistry, and a shared musical lineage , the Burritt Percussion Group brings together some of today’s most exciting percussion voices for performances that are both visually captivating and musically compelling. Michael Burritt is currently Professor of Percussion and chair of the Winds, Brass, and Percussion department at the Eastman School of Music.
